FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - (11/25/03) -- Self-Help CU opened its newestbranch last week in the old First Citizens Bank Building, as partof the renovation of the downtown structure. The $95 millioninstitution is the second community development credit union to setup shop in the refurbished bank, following Latino Community CU,which opened its branch there earlier in the week. Self-Helpfinanced the renovation of the 1920's-era 10-story building, whichwill add 25,000 square feet of new office space to the downtown.The credit union is also renovating an historic bank building innearby Rocky Mount, which used to house the Peoples Bank &Trust Co. but which has been vacant for 20 years.
