JACKSON, Tenn. - (06/29/06) A man suspected of heading aring that broke into as many as 35 ATMs in Maryland, northernVirginia and West Virginia, the last one at First Financial FCU, inBaltimore, was arrested last week at a Wal-Mart store here. TracyFletcher, of Bowie, Md., appeared in federal court yesterday inTennessee and is expected to be returned to Maryland within thenext few weeks. The string of ATM thefts, which netted the ring asmuch as $1 million, is the largest that federal agents said theyhave seen in the region by one band of thieves. Fletcher and threeothers were arrested in a stolen minivan in Spotsylvania County,Va., in December 2005, according to the FBI. Out on $25,000 bail,Fletcher was supposed to be on electronic monitoring butfled.
