CLARKSVILLE, Ind. – A man arrested yesterday in the attempted robbery at Park Community FCU didn’t get any cash – instead walking out with an otherwise empty bag that contained a dye pack that exploded in the parking lot.
The hapless robber then made his getaway in a car he borrowed from his mother, according to police. The mom didn’t know her son planned to rob the credit union and identified the man shown in the surveillance photo as her son when they showed up at her apartment.
Police arrested the suspect, identified as Mathew Carter, 34, after his mother and grandmother were removed from the apartment.
