Robbery Suspect Killed When Getaway Car Crashes

HARVARD, Ill – A man suspected of robbing Harvard Community CU credit union was killed Monday when he lost control of his car while fleeing police and crashed into a tree.

Robert Menk, 56, of Brookfield, Wis., was believed to have robbed the credit union about 9 am, according to police.

Officers saw a Toyota Prius drive away from a nearby business that was closed at the time and tried to stop the car. The driver lost control and crashed into a tree along Illinois Highway.
