Rockland FCU Plugs Merchant Data Breach

ROCKLAND, Mass. – Rockland FCU is blocking and reissuing debt cards after it was notified by MasterCard the accounts may have been breached by a local merchant.

Last week the credit union sent members a letter saying cardholder information may be at risk because a merchant “discovered a breach in [its] computer system.”

Rockland Federal is sending members new debit cards with new PINs, which are supposed to arrive within 10 to 14 days. Old debit cards will be deactivated on Sept. 26 “regardless if your new card has been activated or not,” according to the letter.
