(01/08/02) - USA Education, Inc., thestudent loan company known as Sallie Mae, said Monday it has signedwith GE Financial to offer an array of expanded financial servicesto its seven million customers, including insurance, auto clubmemberships, legal and health-related plans. The three-yearpartnership will begin later this year. Sallie Mae, which wasformed as a secondary marketer for guaranteed student loans, hasexpanded its business in recent years to include, among otherthings, student loan originations and is now the biggestnon-government student lender in the country.
