Oberbauer told her staff that she is being treated for breast cancer and the prognosis is strong.

The board of the $4.9 billion credit union named Chief Operating Officer Tum Vongsawad to be the interim president and CEO. Vongsawad has more than 23 years in the financial services industry, and joined the credit union’s senior management team in 2000.

The area’s biggest credit union reported $68.6 million in net income for 2009, after a $14.1 million loss for 2008.

The credit union said it will undertake a national search to find a new president and CEO.
