SECU Named Bergengren Winner

North Carolina's State Employees Credit Union has been named the 2006 recipient of CUNA Mutual Group's Roy F. Bergengren Award for High Achievement. The award was presented to representatives of SECU at CUNA Mutual's Discovery conference.

The Bergengren Award recognizes commitment to the self-help ideals and philosophy espoused by credit union pioneer Roy F. Bergengren. CUNA Mutual has bestowed the award on individuals and credit unions since 1990.

"We are honored to receive this award," said Jim Blaine, longtime SECU CEO. "It is gratifying to be recognized by CUNA Mutual as a credit union that stays true to the ideal that we are in this for the members."

CUNA Mutual Group said SECU epitomizes the credit union cooperative spirit. SECU boasts 2,400 volunteers who serve on the board of directors, local advisory boards, loan review committees, and audit committee.
