Self-Help CU Completes USDA-Backed School Loan

DURHAM, N.C. – Self-Help CU has awarded a $2.8 million loan to Neuse Charter School in nearby Selma, N.C., that will be guaranteed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Community Facilities program.

The loan will help the school buy a 26-acre site to accommodate modular classrooms and provide space for expansion.

Neuse is the only charter school in Johnston County and serves almost 400 students in kindergarten through 9th grade. The Self-Help loan will help the school expand to include students through grade 12.

The loan is one of five to receive federal backing under the USDA program.
