DURHAM, N.C. -- The venture capital arm of Self-Help CU plans to break ground next month on a $12 million grocery store/office project at a former city-owned parking lot property that will help anchor a redevelopment of the city’s Kent Corner neighborhood.
Kent Corner will have about 36,000 square feet of office space available for rent and about 10,800 square feet of retail. The retail space will be anchored by Durham Central Market, a cooperatively owned natural foods grocery store, which will also have space in front available for outside dining and events.
The community development credit union, an affiliate for the Center for Community Self-Help, has participated in several redevelopment projects in Durham and other North Carolina communities.
