The rehabilitated building was gutted and renovated after being used as a fire station, oil change shop and audio equipment store. The building was enlarged from 1,200 square feet to more than 2,300 square feet of space. The old, open-ended auto bays are now a drive-up window and ATM area.

Besides recycling an old building, Self Help incorporated other green elements, such as using LED lights inside and out and using carpeting partially made with recycled materials.
