WASHINGTON -
NCBA President Paul Hazen praised Johnson for consistently supporting the Rural Cooperative Development Grants program, which creates jobs and bolsters the rural economy through cooperative business. Hazen said Johnson's support for cooperatives has continued during his recent illness. Johnson was stricken in mid-December with an intracranial bleed caused by an arteriovenous malformation, and late last week was discharged from National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington. He is doing his Senate work and continuing physical therapy at his home in the Washington suburbs.
