The panel, which will vote whether to endorse the NCUA candidate, also will review the nomination of North Carolina Democratic Rep. Mel Watt to head the Federal Housing Finance Agency, which oversees Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Other nominations being reviewed next Thursday are: Jason Furman to be a Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers; and, Kara Stein and Michael Piwowar to be members of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Metsger, a Democratic former state senator from Oregon, would serve a six-year term on the three-person NCUA Board if confirmed.
