Serial Robber Captured

PORTLAND, Ore. - (06/05/06) – A suspect believed to beresponsible for eight area bank and credit union robberies wasarrested along with his girlfriend, believed to be an accomplice inseveral of the hold-ups, last Wednesday during a traffic stop.James Ellis, 33, was charged in federal court Friday with severalcounts of bank robbery, including the March 20 heist atConsolidated CU, in Portland. Police believe Ellis carjacked avehicle in the Tigard, Ore., area that day, then used the stolenvehicle as a getaway car at the credit union and at least one otherrobbery. The stolen car later was found abandoned in northeastPortland. Ellis’s girlfriend and alleged accomplice,27-year-old Angela Lee, was arrested on an outstanding drugcharge.
