MADISON, Wis. – A single mother of one, who paid off more than $14,000 in debt from loans and credit cards and increased her savings by more than $3,000, this week won $10,000 from Summit CU as part of the credit union’s inaugural "Project Money" savings contest.
Rachel Reinhart won the grand prize based on points earned for her percentage increase in savings, decrease in debt and participation in program events.
Four families, including Reinhart's, increased their savings by $8,927 and decreased their debt by $32,712 during the seven-month contest. The other three families participating in the savings contest won $2,500 each.
