FREEPORT, Texas – A demolition crew is working this week to tear down the old American Savings and Loan building to make way for the newest branch of Texas Dow Employees CU. The old American Savings and Loan, which was closed during the savings and loan crisis, has been used mostly as a lot for a car dealership recently. The $1.6 million credit union branch is scheduled for completion next April.
