Southbridge CU Names CUNA Mutual Exec As CEO

SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass. – Southbridge CU announced the hiring of Jeffrey Davenport, the one-time president of County FCU, in Caribou, Me., as its new president and CEO.

For the last six years, Davenport has been a regional sales manager for CUNA Mutual Group.

Davenport will succeed Thomas Smararz, who is scheduled to retire as head of the $166 million credit union on March 31. Smalarz has been with the credit union for 35 years and president and CEO for the last 15. Since Smalarz became president, the credit union's assets have grown from $102 million to $166 million.
