FAIRHAVEN, Mass. – To help ease the budget cuts and promote literacy within the local area, Southern Mass CU, for the third year in a row, helped the schools stock their library shelves with books.
Earlier this year, Southern Mass CU hosted its annual children's book drive by collecting new and used books. All books were donated by credit union members, employees, families and friends.
In an effort to help as many local schools as possible, the books were divided equally and donated to the five elementary and middle schools.
In addition to the books, each school also received a $75 donation to help purchase additional books for their libraries.
