TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida and Alabama CU Leagues said they have entered into discussions about closer collaboration and even a potential merger.

The leagues said they are early in discussions about what the potential structure might be, but the goal is to achieve greater efficiencies at a time when the number of dues-paying credit unions has been shrinking.
The talks come at a time when the long-time CEOs of both leagues, Guy Hood in Florida and Gary Wolter in Alabama, have announced upcoming retirements.
Tom Olson, president of Directions 21 Business Group, has been retained to assist the leagues in the discussion.
