Tax Breaks Help Michigan State University FCU Feed New Members

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State University FCU opened a new branch last week with the help of local tax breaks at the former Dimitri’s Restaurant in nearby Lansing.

The $2 billion credit union received state and local property tax abatements worth about $578,000 over 12 years under the Obsolete Property Rehabilitation Act, aimed at helping to rehabilitate this blighted area.

It cost the credit union about $3.5 million to renovate the old restaurant into a branch.
