Visual ATM Locator Launched
PALO ALTO, Calif.-Addison Avenue FCU and software developer metaio have teamed up to create a free visual ATM locator on the junaio 2.0 platform. Through the junaio application, members can use their iPhones to direct them visually to any ATMs within a radius of several miles.
The "augmented reality" platform overlays graphics and 3D models on real objects through any video output, like the cameras on iPhones and Droid mobile devices. Though Addison Ave FCU provided the database, the locator does not only display its specific ATMs, but instead displays every ATM in the entire country.
To use the new solution, members download the app to an iPhone 3GS and subscribe to the visual ATM locator channel. Point the phone at the horizon and ATMs will be shown via a digital overlay from the live view of the camera on the phone. An Android version of the locator will soon be available, metaio said.
Robins Adds 8K Mobile Bankers
WARNER ROBINS, Ga.-In the one year since Robins FCU partnered with MShift to bring mobile banking to its members, the credit union has added 8,764 users. The 132,000 member-strong institution kick started the offering with a four-week advertising blitz in April 2009, which included television commercials, online ads and billboards. The CU also promoted mobile banking in house through branch advertisements, e-mail blasts and a promotion that gave members a chance to win a new cell phone of choice.
AFCU Upgrades Online Banking
RIVERDALE, Utah-America First CU saw its new online banking system go live on May 5. The upgraded offering gives members the ability to deposit checks online, view multiple accounts with one login, and use new funds transfer options."Our aim is to give our members more options to use the system in ways they prefer, so they can accomplish what they need," said an America First CU SVP. "We've listened closely to our members, and this new system gives them the tools they asked for with the safety and security members have come to expect from America First."
