Meriwest Launches Web Tool
SAN JOSE, Calif.–Meriwest Credit Union has launched an Internet-based new member acquisition and online funding program that program allows non-members to join the credit union, open a variety of products, and fund the account from another financial institution–all from their own home or office.
“Meriwest recognizes that online account opening and funding is required to maintain our competitive edge in a world dominated by technology and the internet,” said Tony Cortez, vice president of marketing at Meriwest Credit Union. “This is really just a beginning for us. We will soon launch a more robust product selection and funding engine for our existing online members, allowing them to open additional products from their homes or work and fund them online at a time convenient to them. Having accessibility to a physical location is no longer a need.
The program is convenient and green. It’s totally paperless, and there is no need to drive to a branch to open an account.”
CUs Enter Mobile Banking
BETHPAGE, N.Y.–Bethpage FCU, here, and Purdue Employees FCU, West Lafayette, Ind., have both launched mobile banking programs.
Bethpage said it will be offering the service free and is the first CU on Long Island, N.Y. to get into the mobile banking space. It conducted a pilot among its employees prior to rolling it out to members.
Bethpage Mobile Banking users will simply enter http://mobile.bethpagefcu.com into the browser of the mobile device to log on using their Bethpage Online Banking user name and password. The Bethpage service is free, but the mobile device provider may charge for the minutes used while accessing the banking account.
PEFCU said it is the first CU in Indiana to launch mobile banking and has dubbed its service PEFCU2Go.
Members must be enrolled in PEFCU Online to use the mobile service, which can be found at www.pefcu2go.com.
