COLUMBUS, Ind. - (08/08/05) -- An 18-year-old recent high schoolgraduate was charged Friday with attempted murder, kidnapping andcriminal confinement in connection with the July 27 incident atCentra CU when he held several people hostage during an apparentattempt at 'suicide by police'. Police said the troubled youth,identified as Galen Kroger, entered the credit union wearing a maskand holding a loaded rifle and was 'crying out for help,' as hewanted police to shoot him that day. The teen, they said did notask for money during the incident. Negotiators eventually persuadedKroger to release everyone but the credit union's manager, whom hereleased later, and police arrested him when he came out of thebuilding.
