The teller planted a GPS tracker inside a stack of $20 bills taken by one of the thieves, court papers state. A judge ordered Jonathan Watson, 58, and Earl Lee Alexander, 53, held at the Thurston County Jail on suspicion of first-degree robbery during a court hearing Monday.

Local police arrested the two men after using the GPS device to track their Dodge pickup, stopping the car at Marvin Road near Third Avenue not long after the robbery.

The Navy teller came to the scene of the traffic stop with a police escort and identified Watson as the person who robbed the bank. Detectives found approximately $4,300 and the GPS tracker belonging to the credit union.

The $55-million asset Navy FCU is based in Vienna, Va.
