Teller Stole $72,000 To Feed Gambling Habit

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. – A teller at Capstone FCU was charged with stealing about $72,000 from the credit union to pay for his gambling.

Alexander Flores, a teller for three years, told his bosses he had been taking the money over the course of a month. He lost money gambling, and said he meant to pay the credit union back by gambling more, according to police.

Flores is the main suspect in a similar theft in 2007 from Wescom Federal Credit Union in Temecula, police said.
