Tennessee’s ORNL FCU Plans $30 Million Headquarters Project

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – ORNL FCU said it has purchased nearly 38 acres in Horizon Center Business Park in west Oak Ridge where it plans to build a new headquarters for the $1.3 billion credit union.

The credit union plans to consolidate operating departments now scattered among six locations in Anderson and Knox Counties in a 120,000 square-foot, campus-like setting at the Horizon Center site.

The project, projected to cost $30 million, will house departments that now employ 257 people and as many as another 100 employees in the coming years.

ORNL plans to maintain its branch in the downtown offices after moving to the new headquarters and leasing the remaining spaces.

The credit union was chartered in 1948 to serve the employees of Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
