Teradata Earnings Plunge After NCR Spin Off

DAYTON, Ohio – Teradata, maker of popular data warehousing systems spun off last quarter from NCR Corp., said net income for the period dropped by 79%, to $9 million, or five cents a share, partly because of costs related to the spin off.

Results for the third quarter included a $15 million charge related to the spin off and $30 million in tax-related charges.

Third quarter revenue rose 17%, to $439 million.

NCR announced plans for the spin off in January, saying it would allow each company to better concentrate on its individual customer base, business strategy and operational needs.
