WICHITA FALLS, Texas — Wichita Falls Teachers FCU has identified 400 members affected by the massive Target breach and was working hard Friday to reach them.
At the same time, the $108 million Texoma Community CU says at least 600 of its members have been affected.
Late last week the $68 million WFTFCU placed more than a dozen employees on the task of contacting impacted members. The CU reported that 400 cards were compromised but that fraudsters had yet to use the pirated data.
Wichita Falls CEO Jane Fitzgerald noted that fraudsters often take months to before they put compromised card data to use and that the credit union, by blocking the cards and reissuing, expects to stop the cyber thieves from ever using the CU members' information.
