NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – More than 200 members of Langley FCU received phishing solicitations for their personal account information Friday via text messages received on their cell phones.

The text messaging scam appeared to be targeted at random cell phone users with local prefixes, according to authorities.
The credit union received as many as 200 calls between 3:30 pm and 5 pm Friday by members who received the text messages.
Credit union officials worked with the FBI and had the website shut down just before 5 pm.
