Three Calif. credit unions sign with Dolphin Debit for ATM management

Three credit unions in California are turning over their ATM-operation reins to Dolphin Debit Access, a full-service ATM management company.

Pasadena Federal Credit Union in Pasadena, Mission City Federal Credit Union in Santa Clara and San Jose-based Pacific Postal Credit Union are the trio to make the switch. The three credit unions are similarly sized, holding valuations of $169 million, $102.8 million and $217.1 million, respectively.

For Pasadena FCU, the decision to choose Dolphin Debit boiled down to service.

“Because credit unions provide great service to our members, we tend to expect it from our vendors,” Pasadena FCU’s John Schaefer, vice president of member service and marketing, said in a statement. “Dolphin Debit is all about that. They have the right approach and right mentality, and that was important to us.”

Pasadena FCU, an 83-year-old institution serves its 11,000 members across four Southern California municipalities and about 100 additional organizations. The credit union tested out the service by having Dolphin Debit oversee a single new machine.

Dolphin Debit operates various types of equipment in on-premise and off-premise venues while also providing services such as deployment of new ATM equipment, terminal driving, ATM maintenance, armored car service, communications and cash management. The organization’s principal offices are sprinkled between Houston and New Orleans.

Dolphin Debt’s performance was favorable, prompting PFCU to move half a dozen ATMs toward the purview of Dolphin Debit upon expiration of the credit union’s prior contract.

“Service really is what ATM management is all about,” Gary Walston, co-founder of Dolphin Debit, said in a statement. “Credit unions can only provide this valuable service to their members if their machines are reliably maintained and absolutely dependable. That is what we deliver for all our clients, from coast to coast, who turn over the ownership and operation of their fleets to us.”
