EL PASO — FirstLight FCU has created a memorial fund for the benefit of an injured soldier and one of its members, whose children were killed on the way to the hospital to visit him.
The credit union made an initial contribution of $10,000 to the fund for Army Specialist John Austin Johnson, who is stationed out of Fort Bliss near here, but currently is being treated in a San Antonio hospital for head wounds suffered in Iraq.
Johnson's wife, Lisa, lost control of her SUV on the way to the hospital and the vehicle flipped, killing Logan Johnson, 2, and Ashley Johnson, 5. Another son, 9-year-old Tyler, has been hospitalized in Dallas with head inquiries. Lisa Johnson was not seriously hurt.
