VACAVILLE, Calif. – Travis CU has begun what it calls an industry first – a cultural immersion training exercise meant to increase employees’ level of service for Hispanic members.
All employees who work with the public will take part in the training, which involves facilitated visits to the Mi Pueblo Food Center in Vallejo and El Tejabon Restaurant in Vacaville.
By asking participants to speak Spanish and take part in a broader cultural discussion, the credit union said employees further understanding of the struggle some new immigrants face while obtaining financial services in a second language.
