ANN ARBOR, Mich. — After starting negotiations last summer, the University of Michigan CU and Eastern Michigan University Credit Union have merged.
The consolidation, completed earlier this year, extends the reach of UMCU, now with nine offices, and provides better access, convenience and services to EMUCU members, said UMCU CEO Tiffany Ford.
According to call report data at the end of 2013, EMCU had more than 2,700 members and $20 million in assets; the $519 million UMCU had more than 57,000 members.
EMUCU's single office in Ypsilanti, Mich., will be renamed "Eastern Michigan University Financial, a branch of the University of Michigan Credit Union."
