WORCESTER, Mass. — Two CU offices here, both located on West Boylston Street, were held up Tuesday.
The first robbery occurred at the Leominster Credit Union branch located at 910 West Boylston St. The second heist took place at the 520 West Boylston office of Worcester Credit Union.
Police said they do not believe the robberies are connected.
At about 9 a.m., a man walked into $634 million Leominster Credit Union, placed a handgun on the counter in front of a teller and demanded cash, according to police. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and fled on foot.
The suspect is a white man, in his mid-30s and about 5-feet-8 inches tall. He was wearing a puffy winter jacket, jeans and white sneakers, according to police.
At 11:30 a.m., police were called to $81 million Worcester CU where a teller reported that a black male, possibly in his late 20s, handed over a note. Police described the note as "threatening in nature." The man was demanding cash, police said.
The suspect, described as approximately 5-feet-8 inches tall, with a medium build and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black cargo pants, then ran off. Police said a weapon was not shown. The amount of money taken was not disclosed.
