- CHICAGO (01/11/01) - Selfreliance Ukrainian FCUand Selfreliance UA FCU, Newark, N.J., the two largest creditunions serving the Ukrainian-American communities, have agreed tomerge creating one of the nation's largest ethnic-based creditunions with $360 million in assets and 19,000 members. Under thepact, Selfreliance Ukrainian President Bohdan Watral will bepresident of the new entity, while Ihor Laszok, president ofSelfreliance UA will be vice executive vice president. The twocredit unions provided more than $500,000 in direct support to theUkrainian ĚmigrĚ community in the U.S. lastyear.
