ORONO, Maine – University CU said it has added students at Northeast Technical University to its field of membership and will offer the students private student loans.

The credit union said the loan program has several features that benefit the student, including interest rates that start at just 2% above the prime rate. Additionally, the first payment of the loan is not due until 6 months after the student graduates.
The credit union’s education loans are available in loan amounts from $1,000 up to a student's total certified cost of $15,000. The loan program also features competitive interest rates that reward responsible borrowers.
