AUSTIN, Texas – University Federal Credit Union (UFCU) here said it will open three branches by deploying a tellerless environment.
The branches will use self-service kiosks from Diebold that feature deposit automation technology and which display cash and check deposit details on screen and print details, including check images, on receipts.
In a statement issued by the credit union it said members will enter an open environment featuring individual banking stations. Each station will include a Diebold Opteva ATM, a podium and a collaboration desk. “Personal financial representatives (PFRs) staffing each podium will welcome members and offer assistance with ATM transactions. The PFRs serve a distinct role as credit union ambassadors – not tellers – who interact with members in a more personalized, member-centric fashion,” the credit union said.
The first tellerless branch is scheduled to open in January 2012. UFCU already operates 10 Opteva drive-up ATMs.
