CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. University of Virginia Community CU and the Local Energy Alliance Program are holding their second “Home Energy Makeover” contest, in which one homeowner will win a $10,000 toward making a home more energy efficient.

Experts will fix up the winning house by focusing on air sealing, duct sealing, adding insulation in select areas, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning upgrades.
Once winners are announced, contractors will bid for the chance to do the home makeover work, and the one that offers the best value will be selected.
Anyone in central Virginia can enter for one of several energy efficiency upgrades.
