USAgencies Credit Union on the hunt for its next CEO

USAgencies Credit Union in Portland, Ore., has started the search to find its next CEO.

President and CEO Jim Lumpkin is gearing up for retirement during the first quarter of 2020. Lumpkin studied business, but said that his search for experience is what first landed him at the credit union.

“I never stepped foot in an office. I might not like it,” Lumpkin said during an interview with Credit Union Journal about considering a career in business.

Lumpkin didn’t jump into the business world right away, instead spending six years in the military before returning to Portland to work at USAgencies CU as an insurance clerk. He spent 38 years with the institution, in which he served as CEO for 22 years. The Northwest Credit Union Association appointed Lumpkin to the board of directors in May 2014.

The $90 million-asset credit union serves over 6,200 members across the Pacific Northwest, and has been a part of the credit union movement since 1936.

The credit union selected Credit Union Resources to lead its executive search.
