The program is aimed at integrating a living-wage re-entry green jobs program. Fifty edible community gardens will be created at the homes of both full-paying clients and subsidized low-income households throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

The FHLB grant will subsidize wages for program participant wages and help pay costs for developing a training curriculum, purchasing tools and a truck, and advertising and outreach.

The grant is among $1 million in funds awarded by the FHLB through its Access to Housing and Economic Assistance for Development (AHEAD) Program.
