Utah CU Nemesis Could Get Backing From CUs

The Speaker of the House in Utah, Marty Stephens, who has been a consistent critic of credit unions, has resigned his position as vice president of Zions Bank in order to campaign full-time for governor. Local media has reported that Stephens has been working to distance himself somewhat from the fight between credit unions and banks as he seeks the governorship. In fact, Utah League of Credit Unions VP Scott Simpson told The Salt Lake Tribune that he would not be surprised if CUs become involved in Stephens' campaign.
