Veteran Regulator Retakes Helm At Wisconsin CU Department

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions on Monday said Ginger Larson, former director of its Office of CUs, was reappointed to head the division that regulates all but three of the state’s 220 credit unions.

Larson served as chief credit union supervisor from 1996 to 2003, and since then as supervisor in the credit union office. Before that she worked for seven years as a credit union executive.

Larson was appointed by new Department of Financial Institutions Secretary Peter Bildsten, a former Maritime Savings Bank CEO appointed by incoming Republican Gov. Scott Walker, and succeeds Suzanne Cowen, who headed the department under the Democratic administration of Gov. Jim Doyle.
