LANSING, Mich. - (08/09/04) -- About 2,000 Michigan StateUniversity FCU members had their Visa check card accountspotentially compromised when a local restaurant stored the cardnumbers, in violation of Visa policy. The restaurant, which has notbeen disclosed, faces a fine of up to $500,000 by Visa, as a resultof the breach of policy. The credit union has begun replacing thecards even though officials do not know of any misuse of cardnumbers. Customers at other area financial institutions have alsobeen affected.
