Four student tellers will take deposits and process loan payments and withdrawals from Visions' members, whether they are students, staff or visitors. They also can cash checks.

The branch office, which Visions installed at no cost to the district, has been in the planning stage for two years. It is an outgrowth of other financial literacy efforts, including “Life is a Reality,” in which volunteers from local businesses visit high schools to teach students basic financial management, including balancing a checkbook and principles of investing.

Besides the four student tellers, about 100 other U-E students will be involved in the effort. Students in marketing classes will handle public relations. Those in website design will create a website. Desktop publishing students will create promotional materials. Students in business management will brainstorm on solutions to any problems that surface with the branch.
