JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The wife of a sergeant in the Clay County Sheriff's Office was arrested Tuesday on charges she embezzled $79,000 from her employer, VyStar Credit Union. Police said Laura Gordon, 31, a member’s services representative, applied for loans in the name of her mother, grandfather and grandmother without their permission. Investigators said Gordon put the money in her own account and used it to pay her bills. He husband, Sgt. Shawn Gordon, was not involved in his wife's actions and remains on duty, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
