Wegner Lifetime Achievement Award Goes To Dennis Cutter

Dennis Cutter, president of Numerica Credit Union here, has been named a winner of the Herb Wegner Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Credit Union Foundation. Cutter will be recognized at the Herb Wegner Awards dinner Feb. 26 in Washington.

"Dennis has helped set the standards by which we define successful credit union development," said NCUF Chairwoman Mary Cunningham, CEO of USA FCU in San Diego, in a statement. "His life's work has enriched the lives of countless credit union members across America and throughout the world."

For the past 35 years, Cutter has overseen growth at Numerica from 3,000 members with $2 million assets to more than 63,000 members with $560 million assets. He formed a Community Involvement Committee to raise funds for worthwhile groups and causes from Eastern Washington to Western Idaho.

As a delegate and executive committee member of the World Council, Cutter visited 20 countries on six continents. "Wherever I go, our problems and challenges are similar. We all have common ground for discussion, whether in the Philippines, Africa, Poland, Ireland, Canada, or the U.S. We all are looking for better ways to add new members, market to existing members, and deal with legislation and regulation or the lack of it," Cutter said.

He served as NCUF chairman from 1983 to 1995, when the foundation launched several programs.
