WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — When the going gets tough, the tough credit unions grow.

That's the philosophy behind successful credit unions, as well as Credit Union Journal's Grow Show, which remains on schedule and is just over a month away.

While economic conditions have led other organizations to cancel meetings, Credit Union Journal has stayed the course with the only conference dedicated solely to credit union growth strategies. The two-and-a-half day meeting will be held April 27-29 at San Diego's Hotel del Coronado.

"There is significant research, case studies and just plain experience that makes clear one of the best times to invest for growth is during down economies," said Frank J. Diekmann, publisher of Credit Union Journal. "We are very sensitive to the challenges all credit unions are facing, which is why we have arranged for discounts on room rates, transportation and registration. But we also know that to overcome those challenges credit unions must grow-and that's just what Grow Show is all about."

For a limited time attendees at Grow Show can have one night's room at the Hotel del Coronado included in their already discounted registration. To further help reduce costs, discounts on JetBlue are available, and low-cost Southwest Airlines also flies into San Diego.

The always popular Grow Show has its strongest agenda yet for the San Diego meeting. Sessions will include:

  • Growing net income in a tough environment
  • How to put drive innovation (and growth) within the CU
  • Eight successful branding and marketing campaigns that have worked
  • How one CU uses philosophy to grow

And much more, including sessions on plastic cards, building market share, case studies from growing CUs, and a special "speed dating" session with credit union providers who will talk about what they can do to help drive growth. On the meeting's opening night Credit Union Journal has also arranged another special bonus: an evening on the U.S.S. Nimitz, the world's largest warship, during which its captain will talk about how the Navy promotes innovation and leadership.
