When Going Gets Tough, Tough Turns To CFOs

SAN DIEGO-While many professional groups and conferences saw their numbers suffer during the recession, David D'Annunzio is proud to note the CUNA CFO Council had the opposite experience.

D'Annunzio, SVP and CFO for Heritage Trust FCU, Charleston, S.C., began his one-year term as the CFO Council's new chair at the group's Annual Conference here. He told Credit Union Journal it is a "testament" to the CFO Council that during challenging times it saw its membership rolls grow and conference attendance increase.

"People had to make hard decisions and decided the Council offered value," he said. "One reason why I'm actively involved is the Council and the conference give invaluable information and support. There are educational and networking opportunities. Networking is one of the most valuable things we provide CFOs."

D'Annunzio said the council has identified a top 10 list of topics affecting the industry, which helps it focus on providing the resources its members need, which has included an effort to offer a variety of links on the webiste to create a research portal.
