APPLE VALLEY, Minn.-Wings Financial FCU said its members overwhelmingly approved a conversion to a state charter that will serve almost four million people in the 13-county metro area surrounding the Twin Cities.
The $2.4-billion credit union, the state's largest, is currently one of four credit unions that serve all employees and their family in the air transportation industry through a so-called TIP charter, for trade, industry or profession. The credit union was originally chartered to serve employees of Northwest Airlines.
Wings Financial CU, as it will now be called, will start accepting community-based members in the next few weeks.
