Wisconsin’s First Community CU Buys Failed Bank Branch

JANESVILLE, Wis. – First Community CU in Beloit has acquired a branch that had housed Evergreen State Bank, which was shut down by regulators in January.

The branch had been operated by McFarland State Bank, which acquired the remnants of Evergreen. McFarland operated the Janesville branch for six months as required by the FDIC, then closed it, and the FDIC put it on the market.

The $80-million credit union plans to open the new branch by the end of the month.
